Francine Roberts

Hello!

My name is Francine Roberts and I am excited to step into the role of Local Business Support Coordinator with the Southern Labrador Development Association (SLDA).

I was born and raised in the beautiful town of L'Anse au Loup and later studied at Memorial University in both Corner Brook and St. John's, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts. I have also earned my OHS certification through University of New Brunswick. I moved back home in 2014 and now live in Forteau, where I am raising my family.

Over the past 12 years I have worked on a major hydro-electric project (Strait of Belle Isle crossing), been involved with family business, and worked at our local school. These experiences have given me a strong connection to our community and the people who make it so special.

In my new role I will be supporting local businesses, creating inclusive opportunities for skill development and employment, helping community members pursue careers, and encouraging youth and recent graduates to build their careers right here in the Labrador Straits!

I'm really looking forward to connecting with local businesses and community members and working together to keep our region growing and thriving!

The Regional Network of Community and Economic Services project (RNCESP) is funded by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and was inspired by what we've learned from connecting with people, hearing about challenges in the region, and building on our previous Welcoming Communities Strategic project, which was funded by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, International Grenfell Association and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
