After a fulfilling career in education as both a teacher and an educational administrator at various levels—spanning local schools, districts, and even across the province and country—it feels like a natural progression to extend my professional journey into the field of community development. The Southern Labrador Development Association (SLDA) exemplifies the essence of community development.

Established in the 1960s by grassroots community leaders in the Labrador Straits, the SLDA has not only maintained a significant presence but has also grown stronger over time, as evidenced by recent social and economic initiatives in the region. This impactful work is made possible by dedicated volunteers, a robust membership base, and committed staff.

I consider it a privilege to contribute to this community development movement and help guide the SLDA toward an even more promising future.
