Program Officer, SLDA

My name is Skye Mitchelmore and I am the Program Officer for SLDA's Employment Connections and Development Office, within the Labrador Straits Welcoming Communities Strategy project. I am originally from Green Island Cove, a small community on the Northern Peninsula. After spending a few years living in St. John's, I decided to return to a small town to be closer to my family and home. I recently completed my Business Degree at Memorial University in 2022.

The focus of the Employment Connections & Development office is to facilitate connections between newcomers and locals to potential career opportunities in the area. Some of our services will include the following: resume building, mentorship, and training to support individuals in their career development.

We aim to match skills with available job opportunities in the area, and we invite individuals to share their resumes with us for review and suggestions. Additionally, we offer assistance in setting up digital profiles and electronic resumes, as we compile a skills database and welcome resume submissions.

For local businesses with job openings, we have resources available to help you find qualified and motivated candidates. Feel free to contact us if you are looking to fill any positions. Some of our services include the following: advertising the job listing, creating an advertisement for the job listing (poster), informing employers of any applicants that may be suited for the job that is listed, assisting with the interview process & reference checks.
